Gardening Online

The distance learning Gardening Online course is an e-tutor supported internet-based gardening course that will teach you all the essentials to create a thriving and wildlife-friendly garden. The tutorials are lively, colourful and user-friendly. Learners find out about creating the best soil conditions, making their own compost and fertilisers, how to grow different plant types including fruit and vegetables, flowers and trees, container gardening, and sowing seeds indoors and out. Learners will also come to grips with essential garden maintenance such as weed and pest control, preventing and coping with plant disease and pruning.

Gardening Online is ideal for all from total novices to keen amateur gardeners or those considering a formal accredited horticultural course in the future. The course offers a good mix of online (computer) and offline (garden) work.

The course contains informative interactive tutorials covering essential organic gardening topics as well as:

* Specialist horticultural advice  * Practical outdoors tasks
* Written assignments with tailored feedback * Gardening discussion forums and chat rooms
* Links to extra web sites * Topical gardening news
* Fun quizzes and polls

There is plenty of opportunity to discuss gardening matters with other online learners, perhaps sharing experiences of pest control or hearing about others' choice of vegetables to grow.  These courses are run to scheduled timetables. This year we have three starting in March, April and May 2006, containing 14 separate units.  Each week a new gardening topic is introduced with online tutorials, practical jobs to do in the garden and assignments to send the e-tutor.
